- TD Removals
Frequently asked questions
How is the fixed price calculated?
Our standard fixed price is calculated mainly based on the estimated volume of the move. The standard rate is $55 per cubic metre, with a minimum booking volume of 10 m³. The first 30 km of travel is included, and travel beyond this is charged at $2.50 per km. Difficult access, specialised items or unusual moving requirements may affect the final quote.
Do you charge by the hour?
No. TD Removals primarily uses fixed, volume-based pricing rather than hourly pricing. This gives customers a clearer understanding of the expected cost before their move.
What does the minimum moving volume mean?
Our minimum standard booking volume is 10 m³. If the customer’s belongings take up less than 10 m³, the minimum 10 m³ charge still applies. Single-item moves and small deliveries can be handled separately depending on location and availability.
What happens if I have more items than originally quoted?
If the actual moving volume is greater than originally quoted, the additional volume will be charged at the applicable per-cubic-metre rate. Customers should provide an accurate item list, photos or other relevant information when requesting their quote.
Are stairs or lifts included?
Our standard pricing is based on normal, straightforward access. Stairs, lifts or other access conditions that significantly increase the labour, time or difficulty of the move may incur an additional charge. Customers should provide access information when requesting a quote.
Does difficult access affect the quote?
Yes. Restricted parking, unusually long carrying distances, multiple flights of stairs, narrow access or other difficult conditions may affect the final price. Normal property-to-road access is included in standard pricing.
What insurance does TD Removals provide?
TD Removals holds Goods in Transit Insurance up to $50,000 and Public Liability Insurance up to $5 million.
Customers are not charged a separate upfront insurance fee as part of a standard move.
Goods in Transit Insurance relates to eligible customer belongings while they are being transported, while Public Liability Insurance relates to the business’s liability for eligible third-party injury or property damage arising from our operations.
If an incident occurs and an insurance claim is required, any claim is subject to the terms, conditions, limits and exclusions of the applicable insurance policy. Insurance does not mean that every type of loss or damage is automatically covered.
Please confirm the limits and final insurance wording against our current insurance certificates/policies before publishing.
Is mattress protection included?
Yes. We carry mattress covers to help protect customers’ mattresses during the move.
Are moving blankets included?
Yes. Moving blankets are provided and used to help protect furniture and belongings during handling and transportation.
Is furniture disassembly and reassembly included?
Yes. Simple furniture disassembly and reassembly is included where reasonably required for the move. Complex, specialised or particularly time-consuming furniture may incur an additional charge.
Is a deposit required?
Yes. A 50% deposit is required to secure the booking, with the remaining balance due after completion of the move.
What happens if I need to change my moving date?
We understand that moving circumstances can change. With at least 48 hours’ notice, we will do our best to accommodate a change of date, subject to availability and the individual circumstances of the booking.
How are long-distance moves quoted?
Long-distance moves require a separate discussion or enquiry. Depending on the move, we may request a detailed inventory, photos or an inspection to determine the actual volume, access requirements and travel involved before confirming the quote.
Can TD Removals move single items?
Yes. We accept single-item moves and small deliveries. Customers can contact us directly, and where possible we can fit these jobs into available schedule gaps or suitable existing routes.
What size trucks does TD Removals use?
We have removal trucks suitable for different move sizes, including approximately 20 m³ capacity and a larger truck of approximately 35 m³ capacity. This allows us to allocate a suitable truck according to the estimated volume and requirements of the move.
Does Your Move Need Special Planning?
If your move involves difficult access, specialised or heavy items, unusual requirements or long-distance travel, please contact our team before booking. We’ll review the details with you and assess the requirements properly before preparing your quote.
